Our founders, Jesse Gray and Matt Berlin, are both Ph.D. graduates of the MIT Media Lab, where they conducted their dissertation research as colleagues in the legendary Personal Robots Group.  They are leading experts in expressive human-robot interaction, responsible for programming some of the most iconic interactive robots of the last decade, including the robots Leonardo and Nexi (one of Time Magazine's "Best Inventions of 2008").

Matt and Jesse have co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications in robotics and artificial intelligence in internationally-recognized journals and conference proceedings, including IJRR, AAAI, and SIGGRAPH.

Matt and Jesse's robotics and animated character work has been featured by numerous press outlets including Wired, Time Magazine, and the New York Times, and on television by NOVA, Scientific American Frontiers, CBS Sunday Morning, the BBC, and CNN.
